Supported Independent Living (SIL)

Supported Independent Living (SIL)
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS-funded support designed for people with disability who require significant assistance or supervision with everyday activities at home. It can help you develop practical skills, increase independence and live in a safe, supportive environment while receiving assistance suited to your individual needs. The NDIS describes SIL as support that can be provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including overnight support where required.
Personalised SIL Support with Western Healthcare Group
At Western Healthcare Group, we provide personalised Supported Independent Living services focused on your goals, abilities, preferences and day-to-day support requirements. Our approach is centred on helping you participate in everyday routines while building confidence and greater independence.
Our SIL support can include assistance or supervision with activities such as personal care, showering, dressing, meal preparation, cooking, household tasks and establishing daily routines. Support is planned around your individual circumstances rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
24/7 and Overnight Support
Some people receiving SIL require support throughout the day and overnight. Western Healthcare Group provides 24/7 assistance and overnight support, helping participants access appropriate support when they need it.
Overnight arrangements can vary according to individual support requirements. The NDIS recognises SIL as suitable for people who need a level of overnight support, with the type and amount of overnight assistance determined by their needs and agreed support arrangements.
Our team can support daily routines, respond appropriately to identified needs and help maintain a safe and supportive home environment.
Building Skills and Independence
SIL is not simply about receiving assistance. It is also intended to help participants develop skills and live as independently as possible. Depending on your goals, support may focus on developing everyday abilities, maintaining routines, participating in household activities and making choices about your life.
Western Healthcare Group works with participants to provide support that respects their preferences, promotes choice and encourages active participation. Our commitment to personalised care reflects our focus on independence, dignity and individual outcomes.
A Safe and Supportive Living Environment
Western Healthcare Group provides SIL within supportive living environments, with services tailored to participant needs. We also offer Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), where eligible participants may have separate funding for appropriate specialist housing. SIL and SDA are different: SIL funds support workers, while SDA relates to specialist housing.
Western Healthcare Group is currently listed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission as an approved registered provider, with Supported Independent Living among its approved registration groups. Its registration is recorded as being in force until 2 September 2027.
